10 Ways to Improve Your Health

No matter what age or size you are, there’s always room to improve your health. If you’re looking to live a long, healthy life, you’ll want to make healthy habits stick. Consider these 10 tips to improve your health.

1. Get enough rest

Figure out how much sleep your body really needs in order to thrive. If you need eight hours, shift your schedule in order to get that rest. When your body naturally wakes up because it’s well-rested, you’re giving your body the opportunity to experience optimal health.

2. Exercise consistently

Exercise is a non-negotiable when you’re developing your daily routine. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. In order to decrease your chances of heart disease, get into the habit of developing a strong heart through cardio exercises. As you age, your hormones will fluctuate. Strength-training exercises are excellent for hormone regulation.

3. See a therapist

Slowly, the stigma surrounding mental health is melting away as more people are recognizing the fragility of the mind. As a result, they’re understanding the importance of therapy. When you’re able to sit down to talk with someone about the issues you’re facing or the thoughts you’re processing, they’ll be able to show you a better way to work through your mental blocks.

When you’re able to take time to get away from the hustle of everyday life, you’ll get the chance to really hit the ‘reset’ button. Schedules get hectic. This just can’t be a regular meal on a daily basis. Instead, eat more vegetables, nuts and grains. Consume protein sources such as legumes and lean meats.

The key is to drink the amount that’s right for you. Some people choose to consume a gallon every day. Start by drinking half of your weight in ounces. If you weight 150 pounds, focus on drinking 75 ounces for the day. Split it up by drinking a certain amount before you leave for work, and remain on a schedule. 7. Maintain a circle of positivity

When you’re constantly surrounded by toxic people who stir up negativity, this can weigh on your emotions. If you can’t completely avoid the negative people in your life, find ways to limit the time you spend with them. There are a lot of people who are prone to negativity. Misery loves company so it’s only a matter of time before you become the same way. Though your positive circle might be small, cultivate it. Your health depends on it.

Even if you consume salads and smoothies all day, it’s still tough to get the recommended daily amount of vitamins and minerals through your diet alone.
